Barry is right at home as an electrical engineer working in the construction industry. In middle school, he and another young man having completed basic electrical wiring skills in shop class set about rewiring the malfunctioning floor pockets in the school auditorium stage and even crawled inside a large dimmer cabinet to replace a broken dimmer cable reel. His father and grandfather both worked in facility maintenance and were competent in many construction trades, so it was a natural progression into this industry. He was fortunate as he completed his BSEE to work as a Senior Facility Engineer at Lockheed Martin for 5 years at a DOD data center. During that time, he provided engineering support to an electrical maintenance group and was able to not only apply what he had learned in school but also spend time with the maintenance team in the field getting hands-on experience in maintenance, testing and construction.
Outside of work Barry splits his time between never ending home improvement projects, adult leadership with three Scouts BSA units and spending time with his family.
